Dogs that end up in shelters not only suffer stress, but due to underfunded and overcrowded shelters, their prospect for survival is often bleak. This blog is part of the Resources for Dogs project which provides information on resources available to dog owners and the community to help keep dogs out of shelters. Posts will cover veterinary financial aid programs, pet food pantry locations, tips for lowering veterinary bills, contact information for rescues, hints for addressing behavioral problems, and so forth. There are resources out there, but they are often not well-publicized and information such as criteria for qualifying for a program is not readily available. The Resources for Dogs project hopes to fill that gap.
